Course Training Programs

Last month we completed the course measurements and are currently in the process of having them certified. We’ll also be adding a new course map and elevation profile for the 2014 Great Wall of China Marathon in the near future. As part of the process for the course measurement we have also developed training programs that are tailored specifically to the Great Wall of China Marathon course.

The Great Wall of China Marathon is an challenging adventure race. A large portion of the course is still in its original state and in ruins. You’ll encounter loose stones, gravel, large steep steps, missing steps, and crumbling walls as well as trees and grass in some sections. Runners should be physically fit and in shape as this marathon can be extremely strenuous.

The following training programs have been developed to help train and physically condition your body for the race. The Course Training Programs have been developed by Mosi Smith, a certified coach through USA Track & Field and the Road Runners Club of America and was the assistant coach of the U.S. Naval Academy Marathon Team.
